Incident Description

Stephen Copp was off-duty driving a County vehicle when he was arrested in Stafford County for a DUI. The County vehicle was reportedly found to have front-end damage.

He was placed on administrative leave and subject to an Internal Affairs investigation.

"..A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Stephen Copp, 57. Deputy Hurt determined Copp was an off-duty detective with the Fairfax County Police Department and was operating his unmarked law enforcement vehicle. Copp had bloodshot, glassy eyes and an odor of alcoholic beverage on his breath. He was charged with DUI and the traffic signal violation and the magistrate released him on an unsecured bond. The vehicle was released to the Fairfax County Police Department and they have placed Copp on administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation." - Stafford County Sheriff's Office
