Kenneth Terry, Virginia State Trooper, was charged with the Class 1 Misdemeanor of 18.2-152.5 Computer Invasion of Privacy. Case was heard in the Culpeper General District Court. The case disposition was Dismissed but with Supervised Probation for 1 Year.

Nearly eight months after Wesley G. Shifflett and James F. Sadler chased, harassed, cornered, and then murdered Timothy "Tim" McCree Johnson, a 37-year-old Black man leaving the mall, a special grand jury in Fairfax County indicted one of them for felony crimes.

Shifflett, a Fairfax County Police officer since 2016 up until April of 2023, will face a class-five felony charge of involuntary manslaughter and a second charge citing reckless handling of firearms. The special grand jury was the second to convene to consider prosecuting the February 22, 2023 murder of Mr. Johnson. The first grand jury failed to issue a true bill. Sadler, the other Fairfax County officer who shot Tim Johnson and was reportedly not in uniform at the time of the killing, was never charged with a crime.

"The deputies are accused of collectively killing Irvo N. Otieno, 28, by essentially smothering the 6-foot 2-inch, 270-pound man as they attempted to restrain him during the admission process at Central State Hospital."

Charlottesville Police officer Jeffrey Jaeger was convicted of assault and battery. His 12-month sentence was suspended, and instead he was ordered to serve two years of unsupervised probation.

The Charlottesville Police Department announced on September 1, 2020, that Officer Jeffrey Jaeger was charged with misdemeanor assault and battery and tried in Charlottesville General District Court.

Several officers appeared in the trial as witnesses.

Longtime VCU Police officer Polly F. Griffin was arrested, charged, indicted, and subsequently decertified as a police officer after assaulting an individual while on duty and in uniform. Griffin appealed her decertification status to the CJSB Executive Committee; her certification was reinstated on November 17, 2022 without the public taking much notice.
